The
owner of Cayenn Elbony was awarded with a statue of a golden
greyhound but he also received a grant worth of 100,000 CzK (cca.
4,000 EUR) from a sponsor of the Golden Greyhound competition.
Czech celebrities such as Frantisek Ringo Cech (actor, musician,
composer, naive art painter, writer) Petr Novotny (TV entertainer),
Jadran Setlik (photographer), Vlasta Hajek (chief of Ferrari club),
Pavel Sedlacek (rocker) and other top czech celebrities and also the
representatives of the "Krtek" (i.e. Ground hog in English) child
charity foundation. As usual Heidi Janku (pop-singer)
moderated the event.
Unlike other sport awards the Golden Greyhound was unique with the
above-menitoned painting and the Hedgehog.
It is known that greyhounds do not like ground hogs as they are able
to damage a well-maintained race track surface. In spite of this
fact a hedgehog appeared in the painting called "The Golden
Greyhound Grandmaster - always one lenght ahead!" in honour of the
first grandmaster, created by Frantisek Ringo Cech, but a ground hog
also appeared in the course of the ceremonial awards.
The white greyhound Cayenn Elbony did not gain any profit from the
grant although he contested for the prize for the last three years.
The owner of the greyhound decided to donate the grant to seriously
ill children and therefore he gave the 100,000 Czk to the "KRTEK"
child oncology charity foundation.
The president of the Krtek foundation Martina Smukova (top model,
actor, appeared in the movie with Vin Diesel - "Triple X") and the
actor Jan Antonin Duchoslav (aciteve supporter of the foundation)
came to receive the gift. Mr. Zdenek Grondol, the representative of
the Greyhound Company, inc. who is the owner of the greyhound,
personally handed over the cheque to the Krtek foundation
representatives.
Jan Preucil (actor, professor of dramatic art and rhetoric) and Eva
Hruskova (actor) also congratulated to the first Golden Greyhound -
Grandmaster.
Frantisek Ringo Cech presented his painting devoted to the Golden
Greyhound Cayenn with his typical sense of humor and also read a
legend to the painting - HERE. The legend describes a fictional
story of a talented puppy that the present owner acuqired for a
bottle of rum.
Ringo mentions among others: "Young
Cayenn drew attetintion of the whole world during his first race.
After 50 metres he caught the hare and ate it and, of course, the
race had to be cancelled.
The World Greyhound association sent a commisary to Motol and after
the commisary confirmed the situation, the assication ordered to buy
new dragging engines with two speeds.
First speed - the original one for race without the greyhound Elbony,
second speed, practically twice fast for races with Cayenn Elbony."
Of course it is not true that Cayenn Elbony would ever eat any hare
however it is true that Cayenn is a real a rcing miracle.
Cayenn was collecting points each race, analogous to pilots in F1
races. He succeeded in winning the contest three years in a row. Of
course it, both for the greyhound and for the trainer, took great pains
to obtain the title of the Golden Greyhound - Grandmaster.
"Greyhounds are artworks of nature" expressed Mr. Zdenek Grondol,
the president of the Czech Greyhound Racing Federation and the
founder of the Golden Greyhound contest, couple of years ago.
"I have been fascinated by grehounds beauty. Greyhound racing takes
my breath away," these are some of quotations of the CGRF president.
