Prague, 23-07-2010 She's certainly smarter than the average racing greyhound and proved her thinking is as quick as her running. The startled hare came from underneath the inside fence, took a couple of strides towards the dogs, realised it was going the wrong way and then darted across the track. Scott Stefanos, Ginny Lou’s trainer, said: ‘Greyhounds are sight hounds and every time Ginny Lou sees a ball or something moving in the wind her ears prick up, so when she saw the hare skirt past her eyes, she chased it away and then ran back on to the track to finish the race.' 'To her credit she thought she was doing the right thing, then had the nous to carry on and join the rest of the field.' |

‘I thought she had
fallen at first but a few people watching it on the screen said she’d gone after a real rabbit.’ Stewards at the Shepparton track in the state of Victoria, Australia annulled the race, handing back punters the £18,500 they had bet. John Martin, president of Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club, said snakes and ducks had also invaded the track. ‘We’ve got full-time staff here who are still looking for that damn rabbit,’ he added.
